A couple of months ago, I decided it was time to get my fat ass back to working out. I tried to find a good play list of mainstream artists, but nothing was getting the blood flowing. I had previously seen different Indie Artists promoting their music on Spotify, so I decided to give it a try. I searched for the artists I've featured on here and gave FFO first try. After two months, I can honestly tell you FFO's album "The Ascent" is my go to music. Two straight months and it has not gotten old.
Every song on this album is a blood pumping adrenaline rush. Seriously! Let me say it again, "I fucking love this album!" Hell, you don't even have to be working out to enjoy it. Just don't plan on staying put as you listen.
Far From Over consists of five members, Zac Birdslow on vocals, Alex Carter on bass, Tyler Battist and Noah Schoeneck on guitar, and Zan Pointon on drums. Zac has some killer vocals that will hook you from the first note.
I would love to see these guys live, but unfortunately they are from Hannibal, New York and I'm stuck here in Illinois. Who knows, maybe next summer they will find their way to St. Louis and play at Pointfest. Either way, if you get a chance to listen to these guys, do it. Even if you are not a fan of this type of music, there is a chance they might reel you in just like they did me. This is a great debut album and I can't wait to see what comes next for these guys.
I should have prefaced this blog page by saying I was a country music fan at heart, although I'm open to all kinds of music. These guys are freaking awesome! I listened to about five songs on YouTube and there wasn't one I didn't like. The above song "Tonight" was probably my favorite of the five. I wish I would have had this song available when I was writing my book, "American Hero" at http://fictiononthego.com. It would have been helpful with the killing parts. Not that this song reminds me of killing someone, but gets you pumped.
I definitely want to hear more from these guys. If you do too, check them out at http://facebook.com/ffoband or on twitter at @ffoband.
