Who is Extreme and why is "More Than Words" in the Final Four? I'm not going to get too much into the background of Extreme, except to tell you they were a metal/rock band from the years 1985 through 1996, and reunited again for another run in 2007 until present day. Some would also consider them glam or funk metal.
I do want to concentrate on the song, because it is more than deserving of being in the Final Four. As my contributor Anna Fuentez has stated, the eighties bands usually get a bad rap and are much more deserving of praise than they have been getting. "More Than Words" is a great song with some really deep meaning behind it.
The two guys behind the song are Gary Cherone on vocals, and Nuno Bettencourt on accoustic guitar and vocals. This song came out my sophomore year of high school, and was a staple on everyone's playlist, which usually consisted of a mixed tape you either dubbed yourself or recorded off the radio. Life was so much better then.
The song is based off an honest and sincere meaning. It's about how easily the words I love you are thrown around. This is never more true then when you were in high school, so understand the popularity. The motto, actions speak louder than words is the basis for this incredible song. I recommend listening to every word in the song to truly appreciate this masterpiece by the band Extreme.
