The band, formed in 2011 in Orlando, Florida, is: Jimmy (guitar, vocals), Mike Hanson (drums), Kenny Ames (bass), Mark Damian Brooks (guitar). Their debut EP No Strings Attached was released November 6, 2014. The title track received rave reviews worldwide, catching the guys a little off guard as they were not anticipating such a reception. Despite the sudden notoriety, Jimmy remains humble and seems to take it all in stride.
Sine himself began playing guitar at the age of thirteen, crediting Joe Satriani, Kid Rock, Michael Schenker, and George Lynch as being a few of his musical influences. Just as his influences vary, so does his own musical style. Not wanting to be tied down to one particular genre, Jimmy has managed to produce multifaceted music that reaches multiple genres. One constant throughout his music would be guitar riffs that are somewhat reminiscent of bands from the 1970s and 1980s, where he recalls the best music “... was based on melodies, great vocals, and great songwriting.” The rock world is currently seeing a rise in new bands along with the reappearance of many of the bands that were so influential two and three decades ago. Now seems the perfect time to be a part of the music world.
Sine quickly accepted the job and, in doing so, he was able to form unexpected bonds and friendships with the band as well as other artists. These connections would most likely have been very beneficial career-wise a couple of decades ago; however, in today's world they can be taken at face value given the fact technology has completely transformed the music business.
From in-home studios to self-promotion, the music industry has definitely changed. “It doesn't have an age anymore,” explains Sine, “so we are starting to see the older rockers come out and promote their own stuff. Social media is giving us an opportunity to promote anything we want on our own terms. I think it is a wonderful opportunity for bands that would have never got record deals to gain a fan base... It literally puts everyone on the same playing field. He who promotes his ass off eventually wins!” Jimmy and the rest of the band are currently working on an album tentatively entitled Skin to Skin that is scheduled for release later this year. On October 10, Jimmy will be performing “The Star Spangled Banner” (which he will play Jimi Hendrix style) at a special event at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. He is truly honored to be chosen to do so. Now the question remains: Has Jimmy given up driving the bus? Answer: No way! He loves doing it and is available as long as the schedule does not conflict with his own band.
