Luthero wants to make sure that their listeners know that, without a doubt, they are listening to metal. All four band members count Mastadon, Gojira, Opeth, and Pantera as being major musical influences. Damian also likes Extol and Tourniquet, with Leonardo favoring the band Shining from Norway. Oliver credits a vast array of bands as being influential to him. “My influences are varied” he states, “I am a big fan of Swedish metal, melodic death, black metal, and technical death metal bands such as Dark Tranquility, The Faceless, and Amorphis among others.” With such heavy inspirations, it is no wonder Luthero transformed itself into the powerhouse that it is today.
Like any other band out there, Luthero loves to play live shows. However, sometimes this is difficult for them to do. Choosing a venue often poses problems as not all of the places available are necessarily safe to play, with many of the buildings being centuries old. Oliver remembers how once a stage broke during a band rehearsal, which they now laugh about. There are a few good venues to play, one of which the band unanimously agrees is one of the best, which is Vorterix Theatre. Not only is it structurally sound, but also has great acoustics. Financial reasons are the other big factor for them. Even to play locally requires them to pay, regardless of venue. Last year was the first time they were able to tour outside Argentina, but it was quite costly for them. Although there is no tour currently planned, if given the choice the guys say they would tour with Mastadon and Gojira.
In order to reach a larger fan base, the band utilizes social media. “Social media has had a good effect on us; in fact, this is how we were able to connect for this interview. Overall the response has been great, especially in Europe and the United States. In our country it is very difficult to pursue a metal band for several reasons, so there’s no doubt that social media is very useful for us. We have already been able to do some interviews and have had reviews done for our EP, something that makes us very happy since the EP is only three songs and an intro.” The band has already completed some of the songs for their new album, which they hope to record and release soon. There is no doubt that Luthero will be selling out shows worldwide in the near future.
